tamburina:

Claire’s Knee (Eric Rohmer, 1970)

Probably the most erotic movie without sex ever filmed.  The locations alone are arousing, and Jean-Claude Brialy’s straw hat and sweater draped over the shoulders are so pimp.
The Criterion edition has a contemporaneous interview with the two gamine leads, Béatrice Romand and Laurence de Monaghan, about working with Rohmer, and they have a very cutesy, Rohmerian discussion about the enigmatic director’s personality.  While the man himself may be a mystery, his art is basically a species of sublimated Catholic perversion, not unlike Balthus. Brilliant movie.
